Imphal, February 10 2019:
Taking the ongoing civil movement against CAB 2016 a notch higher, the MANPAC, while appealing to all the people to come out on the streets and launch different modes of agitation, has called for a complete halt to all vehicular movement on February 12.Speaking to media persons at the Sega Road, Konjeng Hazari Leikai office of JCILPS, MANPAC convenor Yumnamcha Dilipkumar informed that they have decided to further expand and intensify the ongoing mass civil movement on February 12.Saying that there is a strong possibility of tabling the CAB 2016 in the Rajya Sabha on February 12, Dilipkumar appealed to all the people to halt all vehicular movements on February 12, come out to the streets and protest against the Bill enmasse.
Just as women vendors of Khwairamband Keithel have started protesting against the Bill by halting the night at the market since yesterday, MANPAC has granted permission to all women vendors of other markets to launch similar protest agitation, said the convenor.
He then condemned the bold declaration made by Forest and Environment Minister Th Shyamkumar at a public function held yesterday that the CAB 2016 would not harm Manipur in any manner.
Any attempt to project the mass civil movement against CAB 2016 as instigated by Congress party would not be tolerated.
Th Shyamkumar's statements smacked of immaturity, he remarked.
He said that MANPAC would boycott Th Shyamkumar until and unless he tenders an apology.
Even though Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had repeatedly claimed that CAB 2016 would not affect Manipur and the North East, majority of the people including legal experts have pointed out that the Bill will wipe out all the indigenous people of the North East from the surface of earth, Dilipkumar continued.
All the statements of the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister are hogwashes aimed at pacifying the aggrieved masses, he said.
Speaking on behalf of six student bodies namely; AMSU, MSF, DESAM, SUK, KSA and AIMS, Manjit Sarangthem appealed to all the people to hoist black flags on February 11 in every household.
He also appealed to the student community to surrender Hindi textbooks to the Governor and the Chief Minister on February 12 .
