Edn Minister launches 1st edition of Inspire cup 2019

Edn Minister Thokchom Radheshyam while speaking at the opening ceremony of the 1st edition of Inspire Cup 2019, U-17 Youth Football Competition which is an Inter-School Boys Football Tournament, said that Manipur is a land where sports are an integral part of the people.
Although a small state, Manipur has brought many laurels for the country in the international arena, he added.
The Minister further stated that it is a pride of the State that 8 Manipuri players were part of the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017.The tournament is being held at the Kodombokpi Ground Sports Complex, Wangjing organised by the Oorep Sports in association with Heerel Studio.
Th Radheshyam said that sports demands professionalism and football today is being played as a profession in the State too and added that many clubs has now been promoted and developed in the country and in the state as well so that professional players benefits from playing with better facilities.
He also stated that in such football competition, under-17 players will get a platform so that they can excel in the field of football.
He appealed all the guardians to encourage the young players so that they can develop their innate qualities.
Announcing the opening of the Football Competition, the Minister said that playing well is as important as becoming the champion and urged the players to play in a fair manner abiding by the rules and discipline of the game.
CT Higher Secondary, Mayang Imphal won the opening match against Endeavour Football Club, Wangjing by 4-0 goals.
The U-17 Youth Football Competition which saw participation from 22 teams of different higher secondary schools will vie for the top prize till March 10 .
