Khelo India : BMSC and THAU lift championship title ofU-17 football

Sporting events in various disciplines organized by District Youth Affairs and Sports, Imphal West under the aegis of Khelo India Scheme for U-l 7 Boys & Girls in different parts of Manipur since February 6 concluded today.
Football: M Maichael Singh 7th minute winner led BMSC, Taobungkhok emerged champions of U-l 7 (Boys) Football tournament defeating SDC, Samurou 1-0 in the final while Y Thoithoi lone goal powered THAU Thangmeiband edged past NIRVANA Children Home 1-0 to clinch champioship title of the U-17 (Girls) Football tournament at THAU ground today.
In the boys U-l7 football, M Maichael Singh opened the account for BMSC in the 7th minute and held on to the lead till the end of the match to clinch the title of the tournament while in the girls U-l7 football, Y Thoithoi of THAU pumped in the winning goal in the 36th minute to make THAU lift the championship title.
The closing function was attended by Dr S Manikanta, Director National Health Mission; N Ramjoy, ex-footballer; Muhindro Singh, DYASO Churachandpur; K Gopeshwor, former international footballer; and N Ranjit Singh, president Thangmeiband Athletic Union (THAU) as dignitaries and distributed prizes to the winners and runners up team.
The winner of U-17 boys� football, BMSC Taobungkhok received a cash prize of Rs 5,000 and trophy while runners-up team SDC, Samurou pocketed in cash prize of Rs 3,000.THAU, Thangmeiband got rich by Rs 5,000 as cash prize with winner's trophy while runners-up team NIRVANA Children Home was honoured with a cash prize of Rs 3,000 with trophy.
The third place team Punyabati Children Home alsp received Rs 2,000 and trophy.
Thang-Ta: Yumnam Yamuna Devi, chairperson Thongkhong Laxmi Municipal Council; Huidrom Premkumar Singh, president Huiyen Langlon Thang-Ta Association; Mohd Roushan Ali, councillor ward no 2, Thongkhong Laxmi Municipal Council; and Kangjam Kumar Singh, councillor ward no 7, Thongkhong Laxmi Municipal Council attended the closing function of the Thang-Ta Championship as dignitaries and distributed prizes to the winners of the champioship.
The champioship was held as part of the Imphal District Khelo India scheme since February 8, which saw participation from 10 Thang-ta team from Imphal West District including 50 boys and 37 girls at Thang-ta Sanglen.
Thang-Ta Maheikol, Yumnam Huidrom emerged team champions of the tournament in boys section bagging 3 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medal closely followed by Kanglei Thang-ta Sindamsang, Maklang collecting 3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals.
For girls, Kanglei Thang-ta Sindamsang, Maklang topped the medal tally with 2 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze while Thang-Ta Maheikol, Yumnam Huidrom clinched the runners-up title with 3 gold, 1 silver and and 1 bronze.
Junior Boys: In the 52 kg event, the gold medal went to Y Umakanta Meitei of Thang-Ta Maheikol, Yumnam Huidrom while M Lamnganba Meitei of PAHULASI, Mayaikoibi settled with silver and Sh Roseland Singh of ANJIKA, Sangaiprou finished with bronze medal.
Junior Girls: In below 43 kg, Manorama Yumnam of Thang-Ta Maheikol, Yumnam Huidrom won gold while H Roshini Devi of Huiyen Langlon Thang-Ta Academy, Yumnam Huidrom settled with silver and A Dhanapati Chanu of the Meitei Nongsha Lallong Thang-Ta, Heigrujam finished with bronze In below 47 kg, L Sophiya Chanu of Thang-Ta Maheikol, Yumnam Huidrom collected the gold medal while T Roshita Devi representing Kanglei Thang-Ta Sindamshang, Maklang grabbed silver and A Guita Chanu of PAHULASI, Mayaikoibi contended with bronze medal.
In below 51 kg event, the gold medal went to N Julia Devi of The Meitei Nongsha Lallong Thang-Ta, Heigrujam, the silver to S Manda Devi of Kanglei Thang-Ta Sindamshang, Maklang and the bronze to Y Priya Devi of Thang-Ta Maheikol, Yumnam Huidrom.
In below 55 kg, Jonita Laishram Kanglei of Thang-Ta Sindamshang, Maklang; Y Dayalaxmi Devi of Thang-Ta Maheikol, Yumnam Huidrom; and L Mercy Devi of The Meitei Nongsha Lallong Thang-Ta, Heigrujam bagged gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
In below 59 kg, S Rojika Chanu of Thang-Ta Maheikol, Yumnam Huidrom won gold; Th Bibi Chanu of Kanglei Thang-Ta Sindamshang, Maklang bagged silver.
In above 59 kg, L Shelly Devi representing ANJIKA, Sangaiprou; Th Ingalsana Chanu of PAHULASI, Mayaikoibi won gold and silver respectively.
Table tennis: Priticia RK, N Musmita and Ushakiran stood first, second and third respect vely of the Imphal West District Khelo, India Table Tennis tournament for U-l7 girls at THAU indoor hall which got underway since February 8.Thomas E, L Bedhajit Sharma and RK Harichandra Singh stood first, second and third position in U-l7 boys event while L Bedhajit Sharma, RK Harichandra Singh and Soram Rodick stood first, second and third position respectively in the U-l5 category.
In U-13 girls category, N Musmita Chanu, RK Chengloubi and Benicia RK respectively stood first, second and third while the first, second and third position went to Soram Rodick, RK Hirachandra Singh and K Henthoiba.
Kabaddi: YSC emerged winners of the U-l7 Boys Kabaddi tournament defeating Imphal West by 25-17 points in the final played at Lamdeng Khunou, Lamsang, Imphal West District today.
Kho-Kho: ASKKA Sekmai became champions of Imphal West Khelo India U-17Boys Kho- Kho tournament defeating Imphal West by 19-14pointsinfhe final at Lamdeng Khunou, Lamsang, Imphal West District today.
