BSNL extends service to Moirangpurel

With the opening of a Base Transceiver Station (BTS) tower at Moirangpurel, Imphal East district, BSNL has successfully established telecommunication service or more precisely Global System of Mobile Communications (GSM) service in the surrounding area.
The opening function of the new BTS tower was attended by MLA Th Shyamkumar, BSNL Manipur General Manager J Lunkim, Deputy General Manager RB Badle, 49 BSF Moirangpurel post commander Binod Singh and senior citizen AK Chandra as presidium members.
Speaking at the occasion, Th Shyamkumar said that Moirangpurel and surrounding areas were denied the benefits of modern telecommunication service all these years despite the sweeping telecommunication revolution.
But henceforth telecommunication or mobile communication would no longer remain an illusion to the people of Moirangpurel and surrounding areas.
He then appealed to all the people, particularly youngsters to use mobile telecommunication facilities in a constructive way.
The MLA promised 1000 SIM cards of Cell One to the people of Moirangpurel free of cost.
General Manager J Lunkim said that the newly opened BTS tower would provide 2G telecommunication service.
Nonetheless, bandwidth or data rate may be increased in the coming years.
Saying that it is their duty to provide telecommunication service to maximum number of people, Lunkim invited suggestions and complaints from all mobile phone users.
