Oscar Fernandes, Ibobi to grace Zomi Convention

High ranking dignitaries including Union Minister for Surface Transport Oscar Fernandes and the Chief Minister of Manipur, Okram Ibobi Singh besides others would grace the third World Zomi Convention, to be hosted by Zomi Council at Lamka next month.
Confirming the participation of Union Minister and the State Chief Minister at the convention slated to be held from October 25 to 27, a statement issued by the I&P department of the convention said MLAs and Ministers, besides other high ranking officials from the Zo descendants have also confirmed their participation.
The Zomis or the Zo people settling at various parts around the globe will converge at the Convention under the theme '�marching on�' and together they will reason on the means to make them stand more united in the face of challenges generated by technological advancement, it said.
The statement added, during the convention traditional heritage house will be set up and inside it different traditional costumes, clothes and other wearing in addition to traditional tools and implements of the Zo people will be displayed.
'This is done so with an aim to make the Zo descendents realize of their pristine traditions and glory thereby drawing them closer to each other.
This is the motive behind the observation of 3rd World Zomi Convention.' Other highlights, according to the organisers will include showcasing of traditional cultural dances, cultural exchanges and a fellowship under theme 'Be a blessed Nation' which will be held during the nights at selected Churches.
On top of it will be a Seminar which will hold at YPA Hall, Hiangtam Lamka and will be conducted by scholars and intellectuals with vast resources.
