Make films with social messages : Dy CM

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam has urged film makers and producers to give more stress on production of films with strong moral messages.
He was speaking at the release event of Sairem Art Creation's latest production Jam Makhong, a Manipuri feature film directed by Sudhir and produced by Jugeshwor Sairem today at Manipur Film Development Corporation auditorium.
The motion picture was released ceremoniously by the Deputy Chief Minister at the function today.
The Deputy CM expressed desire to see more films based on the State's rich culture and traditions.
Not only is Manipuri film industry one among the most busiest production houses, it has also produced some of the best films that had achieved both National and international recognition.
The Centre's proposal to set up a Film Industry in the State certifies the quality of films produced in the State, Gaikhangam stated.
He, however, expressed disappointment that the project was handed over to Arunachal Pradesh.

Voting for promotion of Manipuri films, the Deputy CM said the State will attempt to set up a Film Industry to promote quality films.
Emphasising on the need for commitment, the Deputy CM urged film makers to give more stress on producing films with strong message for the public.
Books, films, both have the power to influence, the Deputy CM stated urging writers and films makers to provide strong messages for the readers/audience through their work.
Commenting on the content of films, the Deputy CM strictly maintained that films should fit the cultural convention of the society.
The language and attire shown in the screen must be made fit for family viewing, he said.
Manipuri film has advanced in many ways.
It has been successful in establishing that love has no religion, race or caste, Gaikhangam added.
Jam Makhong depicts human's close ties with nature.
The film has a strong message of love which is encouraging, the Deputy CM stated.
"Culture and Sports is what our State is known for to the outside world.
The State Government is therefore setting out to establish a Sports University here in the State," Gaikhangam stated.
Guest of honour Khogendra Khomdram, Editor, The Sangai Express (Manipuri edition) said Jam Makhong is a powerful film.
He expressed delight that more women are joining the film industry taking over production and direction at the same pace as the male.
Film Forum Manipur Chairman L Surjakanta Sharma was also present at the release event.
