Special team to probe into Md Atao Rahman case

Manipur Government has assured to form a special team and inquire into the case of Md Atao Rahman (33), son of Md Yasuf Ali of Lilong Turel Ahanbi.
It may be mentioned that four personnel of Manipur Police Commando robbed Atao Rahman of Rs 6 lakh after thrashing him badly at Old Assembly Road when the victim went to deposit the amount for acquiring goods of his shop.
A Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the brutal torture of Md Atao Rahman by the Manipur Police Commando was formed and on Sunday the JAC organised a rally and marched towards CM Bangalow from Lilong bazaar.
Police stopped them at Lilong Bridge and a team led by JAC convener SM Jarik Hussain was brought in Imphal to meet the CM.
The JAC representatives talked with the Government represented by CM, SP Imphal and Thoubal SP from 11 am till 2 pm but could not bring an agreement.
Both the sides resumed their talk again from 5.30 pm till 9.30 pm while CM O Ibobi, Deputy CM Gaikhangam, Agriculture Minister Nasir, SP Imphal West and Thoubal SP represented the Government side.
After four hours of talk, Government allowed to form a special team and inquire the incident at earliest.
The JAC team was also given assurance to give punitive action against those personnel who are involved in the incident.
The JAC later announced to suspend the road blockage which was resolved earlier for some time.
