Makhan, October 25 2015 :
Drawing the immediate and urgent attention of the PHED, Senapati Division to initiate necessary action for repairing the old pipes and deployment of a regular linesman, Makhan civil bodies have issued a statement over the issue.
With the dry season fast approaching and natural water sources drying up slowly, the Makhan Village Council, Makhan Khullen Development Board, Khrasi Welfare Forum, Makhan Khullen Women Society and Makhan Students Union have decried the poor water pipe condition which was laid in 1979.A regular PHED linesman was also appointed way back 1981 .
Moreover, the Makhan bodies have also questioned the authority concerned over the issue of low cost toilet construction under Swachh Bharat Mission where 100 low cost toilets are to be constructed.
Even after the completion of the construction through village funds, the department has failed to release the necessary funds to reimburse despite the work order issue on January 12, 2015, alleged the bodies.
Here, the 'Village Water and Sanitation Committee' has been sidelined over the issue of work order till today.
It added that, till recently, the said linesman retired on superannuation of his service and added that with the pipes not being maintained the water supply system around the village has been affected to a large extent.
Till date even after repeated complaints to the PHED Senapati Division, no positive steps have been taken up for the welfare of the village, informed the statement.
Therefore, the bodies urgently asked the department concerned to immediately intervene and address the grievances of the people without delay.
