With the term of Dr LChandramani as the president of the Federal Party of Manipur expiring on October 4, the Working Committee of the FPM is scheduled to meet on September 30 to discuss the elections of the party's office bearers.
Talking to The Sangai Express founder president of the party Prof Gangmumei Kamei said that the Election Commission of India has written several times to the FPM to hold the party's election on time in tune with its Constitution.
Professor Kamei however said that no one has as yet come forward to contest the election for the post of the president.
To a question, Prof Kamei said that the party believes in consensus and most likely this time too the FPM may go in for a consensus choice.
The date for the election, if any election is to be held, will be decided during the meeting on September 30, he added.
Meanwhile a reliable source said that present president Dr L Chandramani has expressed his desire to continue as president for another term.
The source however did not elaborate on the reactions of the party members to the desire of Chandramani to continue.
