Imphal, November 16 2015:
The BJP-led BJP Government at the Centre would not do anything for the development of Thongju Assembly segment.
It is the State's Congress Government which would take up a number of development programmes in the Assembly segment on priority basis, stated Chief Minister O Ibobi.
He was speaking at a flag hoisting ceremony of Bijoy Koijam at Thongju Pheijaleitong today.
Th Bishwajit of Trinamool Congress was elected from Thongju AC in the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
However, following internal tussle over party leadership which ultimately led to party-hopping, the Speaker's tribunal disqualified MLA Th Bishwajit under 10th Schedule who is now contesting the by-election on BJP ticket.
Had Th Bishwajit thought that the tribunal's decision to disqualify him was wrong, he could have gone to Court.

But he did not go to any Court and this necessitated the by-election, remarked O Ibobi.
When Th Bishwajit was the MLA of Thongju AC, he never consulted the people regarding development of the Assembly segment.
As a result, Thongju AC is lagging behind other Assembly segments in terms of development.
The BJP-led Central Government would not care a dime about the underdevelopment of Thongju.
It is the State's Congress Government which would bring rapid development in the Assembly segment.
Appealing to all the electorates of Thongju AC to elect Bijoy Koijam, the Chief Minister promised that the Congress Government would do everything to make up the development deficits as much as possible within the next one year.
Each and every Minister would share due responsibility to ensure that maximum development can be achieved in Thongju AC within the next one year, Ibobi added.
If BJP genuinely wanted to serve the public, they would have fielded a new face.
But they are fielding a man who has no elements of being an MLA, remarked MPCC president and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam.
On closer examination, BJP Manipur Pradesh turned out to be an association formed by people who have been rejected by the public.
The two BJP candidates would certainly become members of the association formed by defeated candidates.
BJP can never be real rival of Congress party.
People still repose faith in Congress party and the party would emerge victorious in the ensuing by-election.
Many Cabinet Ministers, Congress MLAs, MPCC office bearers and JD-U State unit president M Tombi were also present at the flag hoisting ceremony.
