Shops closed in Kangpokpi after shop owner kidnapped

Imphal, November 16 2015:
Shops at Kangpokpi bazaar were totally shut down on Monday as a protest against the kidnapping of a hardware shop owner in Kangpokpi bazaar on Sunday at around 4 pm.
Sources said that one Suresh Prashad Garg (50), son of late Telhu Prashad Garg of Patel village, under Khurja Nagaon district of Uttar Pradesh was kidnapped by some unknown armed cadres on Sunday evening.
Though the family members has already complaint to the Kangpokpi Police Station, his whereabouts are still unknown.
The source further said that one of Suresh Prashad Garg's sons was also kidnapped by unknown miscreants few years back.
However, his son survived after he managed to escape from the clutches of the armed cadres.
Meanwhile, the whereabouts of the two truck drivers who were kidnapped by unknown armed miscreants on Saturday last at a place between Dainey village and Yaikungpao village under Kangpokpi Police Station are still unknown.
Sources said that a ransom of Rs 50 lakh has been demanded for the drivers' release.
The two drivers were identified as Bishorjit (NL01K-7640) from Assam and Lanchan (NL01-5001) from Bihar.
The five employees of Simplex Infrastructure Private Ltd who were kidnapped by suspected UTLA cadres on November 4 last from nearby Maku Bridge under Tousem Police Station of Tamenglong District are also still to be traced.
