Two persons were killed in separate incidents in different parts of the State since last evening.
In the first incident, a thirty six year old man was bludgeoned to death with a club (Leiyei) by his younger cousin brother at Tera Lukram Leirak yesterday evening at around 4.30, said sources.
The victim has been identified as Soibam Pradip alias Ningthou while the assailant is one Soibam Somorjit (25).Both are reported to be from Sagolband Tera Lukram Leirak.
Sources said that S Pradip who was returning home along with a friend identified as Anandtajit after a drinking session at Phayeng was attacked by S Somorjit with a club near the victim's residence yesterday evening.
A profusely bleeding S Pradip was immediately rushed to RIMS but breathed his last on the way to RIMS.
S Somorjit was arrested by the police late in the evening.
Following the incident, irate locals dismantled the house of S Somorjit and set it on fire.
Lamphel police have registered a case in connection with the incident.
The victim's body was handed over to family members after post mortem at RIMS today.
Meanwhile, meira paibis and members of various social organization of the area in a meeting held today have resolved to expel Somorjit and his family members from the locality.
The members also warned of taking stern action against anyone found trying to free Somorjit from the police custody.
In the second incident, a bullet riddled body of a man was found near Games village Zone IV under Lamphel PS today.
The unidentified body was retrieved by Lamphel police personnel this evening at around 5.30, said sources.
The victim who is suspected to be in his mid twenties received a bullet wound near the left ear.
He is clad in a black pant and a half shirt.
