Imphal, May 12 2016:
Even though, BJP is tipped to be strongest rival of Congress party in the ensuing IMC election, the party is still unable to come with the final list of its candidates.
Nonetheless, the prospective candidates who applied for BJP tickets with regard to 13 different wards of IMC are almost certain to get the party tickets as they are the lone applicants in their respective wards.
Newly elected BJP Manipur Pradesh president Ksh Bhabananda who was at Delhi for the last couple of days arrived here this afternoon together with BJP North East in-charge Prahlad Singh Patel.
Soon after their arrival, they held a meeting with district and mandal presidents of the party and deliberated on issuing party tickets.
Out of 65 people who collected application forms, 47 applied for BJP tickets.
Notably, no one applied for party ticket in Ward No 26 .
During the meeting which was also attended by BJP State general secretary (organisation) S Premananda, applications of 13 people who applied for 13 different wards were approved as there were no contenders.
As for the wards which have two or more contenders, mandal presidents were asked to recommend the most prospective candidate.
It is expected that BJP may come out with a list of candidates in the next couple of days.
Conspicuously, BJP Manipur Pradesh ex-president Th Chaoba was not present at today's meeting even though he is the convenor of the State Election Management Committee.
