AR seize Ginseng

Imphal, May 12 2016:
Based on specific intelligence input regarding
ferrying of contraband forest products on NH 102, troops of
Assam Rifles posted at Bongyang in Chandel district under the
aegis of Hqs 26 Sector Assam Rifles and IGAR (South)
established a vehicle check post on the highway and apprehended
two individuals carrying contraband items (Ginseng) on May 10.
The suspicious vehicle, a Tata 407 truck (MN 07C - 3345)
plying from Senapati to Moreh was stopped by the personnel
of Assam Rifles at the check post for checking, said a press
release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S).
A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of
about 2,560 kg of Ginseng (contraband item) worth Rs 1.59
crores, added the press release.
The apprehendees have been identified as A Besil (39) s/
o S Adaho of Rabunamai village in Senapati district and L
Daikho (25) s/o H Lolomao of Senapati.
The apprehendees along with the recovered items and vehicle have been handed over to Forest Department, Imphal.
