Imphal, March 02 2015:
Maintaining that the official process of sanctioning the amount needed for repairing of broken down CCTV cameras and procurement of additional numbers can be completed within hours, Chief Minister O Ibobi who is also in charge of the Finance portfolio stated that CCTV cameras would be installed up to the place where Civil Secretariat is being constructed.
Ibobi made this statement in the State Assembly today in response to a call attention motion raised by Kh Joykisan about non-release of fund for maintenance of CCTV cameras installed in Imphal city.
E-tender process for installation of additional CCTV cameras is already underway, Ibobi informed the House.
The total estimated cost for repairing non-functional CCTV cameras, installation of solar equipment for power back-up and installation of additional CCTV cameras is Rs 5.51 crore.
The e-tender process would take 21 days to one month.
As for the required fund, it would take even one day to get it sanctioned, Ibobi asserted.
Raising the motion, Joykisan opined that keeping the CCTV cameras fully operational would go a long way in checking criminal and violent activities in the capital city.
He urged the Chief Minister to sanction the fund required for repairing broken down CCTV cameras and for procuring additional CCTV cameras.
