JNV Chandel closed down indefinitely

Naga Students' Union, Chandel (NSUC) has shut down the JNV, Chandel indefinitely with immediate effect till the demands of the Union are fulfilled by the authority concerned.
In connection with the incident where a teacher was stabbed and critically injured by his student at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Chandel on February 10, the Naga Students' Union Chandel (NSUC) along with Naga Women Union Chandel (NWUC) stormed the Vidyalaya today after receiving reports that the same student turned up to appear for the examination at the Vidyalaya today.
A large number of volunteers of the two unions, most of whom were women folks, gathered at the JNV premises gate at Liwa Khullen Sarei in Chandel district from 8 in the morning.
The protesters detained the school Principal seizing question papers of today's Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class XII examination.
The volunteers also blocked Chandel district headquarters road temporarily in front of the school gate by piling woods along the road.
After a brief confrontation with police personnel, however, and considering the academic career of the students, the Unions allowed school authorities to continue the examination.
Speaking to media persons, Joyningam, president of NSUC said that after receiving information about the arrangement made for the student to appear for the CBSE class XII examination at the centre, volunteers of the two union gathered at the gate to prevent the accused from appearing for the examination.
The Students' Union cannot remain a mute spectator while such incident happen at the school creating fear psychosis in the minds of other students and teachers, he added.
The Unions said the culprit should not be allowed to appear for the examination at the centre and that he should be booked and given a befitting punishment for his crime.
Blaming the school Principal of inefficient administration, Joyningam further demanded immediate transfer of the Principal.
Meanwhile, Principal of the Vidylaya told media persons that the arrangement was made for the student to appear for the CBSE's Class XII examination following a Court Order and information received from Vidylaya's Higher Authority.
On the other hand, Joyningam Anal told the media over phone that the Union has shut down the Vidyalaya indefinitely with immediate effect till the demands of the Union are fulfilled by the authority concerned.
However, the ongoing CBSE examination will be exempted and the students will be allowed to appear for the said examination in the Vidylaya, he added.
