AR jawan killed, three others hurt in PLA's attack

Imphal, March 15 2013 :
One Assam Rifles jawan was killed while three others sustained injuries in the twin bomb attacks carried out by People's Liberation Army (PLA), the armed wing of the proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) at Monshang village along Imphal-Moreh road today.
According to police report, the incident occurred at around 7:30 am today when troops of 9 Assam Rifles stationed at Khudengthabi post, were on foot patrolling duty.
One patrolling team was coming from Imphal side while another team was patrolling from Moreh side.
The twin bomb blasts occurred one after the other when both the teams reached an intersection point at Monshang village.
The police report further said that the bombs were planted on the eastern side of Imphal-Moreh road along the hill slope at a height of about 3 feet and within a distance of 20 feet from each other.
As such the impact of the twin blast was great thereby leading to more casualties.

The twin blast had been possibly triggered through a remote control device from a nearby but safer place.
The deceased AR jawan has been identified as Havildar Duman Bahadur (38) while the injured are Havildar Thakur Singh (45), Rifleman Apan Jokhan (24) and Rifleman Opendro Nayale (35) .
The injured personnel were immediately evacuated to the Military Hospital at Leimakhong in an Army Helicopter.
The condition of one of the injured AR personnel is stated to be critical.
Soon after the twin blast, security personnel blocked Imphal-Moreh road for many hours.
Even the media persons, who rushed in for coverage, were prohibited from entering.
Additional security personnel including Manipur Police Commandos also arrived at the spot and took stock of the situation.
No suspects have been arrested so far. Meanwhile, the proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) has claimed the twin blast was carried out by its armed wing, People's Liberation Army (PLA) .
