Wangjing Tentha folks ask for free and fair election

Residents of Wangjing Tentha led by the Youth for Social Change, Tentha and All Manipur Nupi Marup, Wangjing Tentha Area Committee today staged a sit in protest reacting against poll related violence in the constituency and submitted a memorandum to the DC Thoubal to make the ensuing General Election to the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly free and fair in the constituency.
More than 1000 men and women of the constituency participated in the sit in protest held at Tentha Khongban Mayai Leikai.
The protest was organised on the wake of the assault to Wangjing Tentha Zilla Parishad Member Tonjam Ratan who is also an active worker of CPI and burning his Bolero vehicle by unknown persons in the night of January 12. Later at around 1.30 pm, a large number of local people marched to the DC office Thoubal to submit a memorandum requesting him to take up special arrangements to make the election free and fair and take up appropriate legal actions against the persons who were involved in the assault on Tonjam Ratan.
However, they were stopped at Wangban by a team of Thoubal Police led by Additional SP (Law and Order) Ningshel W.From there three representatives of the people were allowed to go to the DC office to submit the memorandum.
