Imphal, January 14, 2012:
All Manipur Government Higher Secondary Lecturers' Welfare Association (AMGHSLWA) has lodged a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer of the state in connection with an alleged case of violation of election model code of conduct.
In the complaint, the Association pointed out that Johnstone Higher Secondary School, Imphal, is a premier educational institution of the government, located at the heart of the capital city.
However, the principal of the school has erected hoardings of a regional political party, namely Manipur People's Party (MPP) within the campus of the school in full public view.
The hoarding also contains a life size photograph of a candidate which is contesting the forthcoming election to the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly as well as the party symbol, 'Bicycle'.
As the election model code of conduct is already in force, erecting of such hoardings in government institutions amounts to violation of the model code, the Association contended, and drew the attention of the CEO for taking up necessary action against the principal of the school.
