Professor Soram Sanatombi, Head of Department, Manipuri, Manipur University has ruled out the reports of anomalies in selection of candidates during the pre PhD entrance test.
Speaking to reporters at the department office in MU campus, Professor Soram Sanatombi said that the entrance test was conducted in accordance with the prospectus allotted to the candidates.
Even though the number of seats specified in the advertisement was 14, candidates (serial number 14, 15 and 16) scored equal marks and one ST candidate was placed in the 17th position.
The entrance test was conducted on February 25.Since there was a chance to select more candidates, a list of 17 selected candidates was announced on February 26, said Professor Sanatombi.
"However following the complaints and allegations of MUSU, a fresh list of selected candidates was notified on February 28 under the direction of the Vice Chancellor and Registrar and this time the number of selected candidates was reduced to 16.Even though there is a provision of PhD regulations which said that 10 percentage of grace marks should be given to those candidates who have completed NE/SLET/SET and 7 percentage to candidates who have completed MPhil, the Vice Chancellor issued a notification regarding the PhD regulation only on March 9," clarified Professor Sanatombi.
