Imphal, September 10 2011:
The political leaders of the state seldom care about the worries and problems faced by the public, rather they are more into getting percentage out of the contracts works, said Professor N Joykumar.
Speaking at the 2011 International Year of Forest at Eco-Green Park, Irawat Museum, Lokchao Santipur Sanjenbam organized by the Irawat Charitable Trust, Manipur, Professor N Joykumar said that the people of the state at present are suffering as a result of the ongoing economic on all the NHs of the state.
The political leaders of the state seldom care about this problem.
They seem to be quite contented with the percentage they get from contract works.
The public also seldom make any complains.
He further went on to say that a situation has arrived in our society where people have no time to think about others.
They are busy thinking for themselves only.
In order to combat all these problems the people as a whole has to come together and fight as one.
The mentality of the general public needs to be changed.
The Meetei's are the only community who has got the guts to outsmart the Indian mainstream in the fields of sports and culture.
Certain issues, which keeps cropping up in regular interval such as the Sadar Hills and the Naga issue has, to a great extent, hampered the tempo of the Meetei's in the development process.
Speaking on the occasion Professor Chinglensana of MU, Economics department said that if at all a change is to be brought in the state of Manipur a "Battle of Idea" has to be initiated.
The mentality of the common people has to be changed.
If these mentalities still persist for long than Manipuri society will not last long.
The function was also attended by Dhanabir Laishram, Chairman, Irawat charitable Trust, L Shantikumar.
Zila Parishad member, T Ratan and Deputy Labour Commissioner, E Tomba.
