Self contradictory, says UNLF

Imphal, September 10 2011:
Reacting to the assertion of PIB (DW) that the army followed a detailed and established procedures including verification of potential surrenderees with police, neighbours and their own families before they are formally accepted for surrender, the UNLF remarked that the PIB (DW)'s statement was self contradictory.
A press release issued by the outfit's Senior Publicity Officer Ksh Yoiheiba asserted that names of parents and other details were not given for Tongbram Mitlang who was made to take part in the recent surrender drama as well as the three individuals from Churachandpur who were given names of Kuki or Paite community, and identified as Sergeant Majors of the UNLF and the other individual from Imphal East.
The failure of the PIB (DW) to provide details of these individuals only negated its own assertion of following detailed and established procedures for verifying potential surrenderees.
Security forces using agents to pick people for surrender drama, detaining innocent civilians and forcing them to pose as UG cadres in such surrender dramas is not a new practice in Manipur.
It was only a few days back when Maj Bhavish and Maj Assish Dubey of AR were put under siege by women activists of the Sadar Hills District Demand Committee for misbehaving with women.
Such excesses committed by security forces can never be atoned by some monetary compensation or military civic action programmes, the outfit asserted .
