In unrelated development, a cadre of the proscribed KCP laid down arms to the Assam Rifles while atleast five cadres of different armed outfits have been arrested and war-like stores recovered in the past 48 hours.
According to a statement issued by PRO IGAR (S), KCP (Noyon) groups's (No 389) SS L/Cpl Jagat Singh s/o Ibocha Singh of Bishnupur surrendered before the troops of 31 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector on September 9 along with one .32 pistol and three live rounds.
A KYKL cadre rounded up from Touthong Khunou (Imphal West) on September 9 by a combined team of 30 Assam Rifles and 18 Sikh of 9 Sector has been identified as Saangancha (41) s/o Sena of Touthong Khunou.
Meanwhile, warlike stores recovered on September 9 from yangbi of Thoubal district by troops of 27 AR include one 12 Bore (single barrel) gun, a 9 mm carbine with magazine, one 9 mm pistol with magazine, 11 balls of 9mm, 16 rounds of AK 47, five rounds of 7.62 mm, two lathode rounds (destroyed in situ) and four Chinese hand grenades (destroyed in situ), added the PRO release.
In the meantime, commandos of District Police, Thoubal reportedly arrested on cadre of proscribed PREPAK during a search operation conducted at Khangbabok Lamlong at around 9.40 am today.
According to a statement issued by Additional SP (Ops) of Thoubal Jogeshchandra Haobijam, the arrested cadre has been identified as Saikhom Naobi alias Karan Singh (18) s/o late S Lukhoi Singh of Khangabok Lamlong Bazar.
On verification, Naobi revealed that he joined PREPAK in April, 2008 and is presently working in the finance section of the outfit, the ASP added.
The police officer further informed that one PLA cadre identified as Phanjoubam Khelendro Singh alias Tampaknganba (28) s/o Ph Kumaro Singh of Andro Awang Leikai was also arrested by a combined team of Thoubal Police Commandos and personnel of 28 Assam Rifles during a search operation at Yairipok Angtha yesterday.
One 9 mm pistol loaded with three live rounds of ammunition were also recovered from the possession of the arrested cadre, who, on spot verification, revealed that he joined PLA as 37th batch and got basic military training at Kabo Tampak (Myanmar) in 2008 under Army no.3735 .
On the other hand, acting on credible information, a combined team of Imphal West District police commandos and personnel of 28 Assam Rifles reportedly arrested an active member of PREPAK (Progressive) from Haoreibi Mayai Leikai at around 9 am today.
Identifying the arrested member as Kshetrimayum Ibohal Singh (44) s/o late Ksh Ibocha Singh of Kodompokpi Mamang Leikai, a statement issued by Senior SP of Imphal West district conveyed that on spot verification, Ibohal disclosed that he joined PREPAK (PRO) through one S/S Major Sunil, assistant organisation secretary (Eastern Division) of PREPAK (PRO) in July, 211 and working under his command.
One letter head of PREPAK (PRO) and one mobile handset were seized from his possession.
Meanwhile, a team of Imphal East District Police Commandos arrested one KYKL (MDF) cadre identified as Takhelchangbam Durjamani alias James Sharma (41) s/o late T Achouba Sharma of Brahmapur Mangjil Mamang Kongba Road from Brahmapur Mangjil Mamang near Ekhoigi Chaksang at around 4.15 pm on September 7 .
In a statement, SP Imphal East informed that one 9 mm pistol loaded with three live rounds in the magazine was recovered from the possession of arrested Durjamani.
On spot verification, Durjamani disclosed that he joined KYKL (MDF) in April 2011 through one Tomba and he was involved in extortion of money from general public, Government officials, etc, the SP added.
