IPSA seeks Govt's attention

Saddened by the present condition of the ancient palace established by the then Maharaja Gambhir Singh in Sylhet, Bangladesh, International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA) has appealed the State Government to press the India Government and the Bangladesh Government in proclaiming the site as a protected area and recognising the palace as an archeological site.
A press release issued by IPSA president narrated that, during the Seven Years devastation, Maharaj Chourjit, Maharaj Marjit, Maharaj Gambhir Singh fled to Cachar and reached Sylhet after four years in 1823 .
It further appealed the State Government to protect the places resided by the then kings of Manipur including Rani Bazar, in which Maharaj Marjit took his last breath, and recognise these areas as archeological sites.
