Imphal, May 07 2019:
The body of Khunjamayum Arun still remains unclaimed even to this day since April 23, following the stand of the JAC and the family members not to claim the body until and unless the remaining culprits are arrested by the State Government.
On the other hand, protest demonstration in the locality of the deceased at Bamon Kampu Makha Leikai still continues, with protesters blocking half of the Imphal Ngariyan road.
In the evening, local womenfolk staged a protest demonstration demanding the arrest of the remaining culprits involved in the brutal murder and condemning the rumours allegedly spread by some supporters of Pradhan N Rabi (who is one of the prime accused of the case) .
Speaking to The Sangai Express over the phone, the secretary of the JAC, Th Rajeeb, stated that no further arrest of other culprits has been made till date after the arrest of Helen (wife of the deceased) and her paramour N Rabi, both of who have been remanded to judicial custody till May 18 by the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal East.
He continued that police also informed the JAC the postmortem report of K Arun can be made available to them through proper channel and added that the JAC and family members of the deceased are looking forward to the report.
After the report is obtained, further course of action will be considered, he added.
He also said that the JAC is in touch with other CSOs of the State which have assured to provide moral support for delivering justice to the victim and the family members.
Rajeeb said that it is very unfortunate the authority concerned has failed to arrest any of the remaining culprits involved in the brutal murder till date even though the crime took place some 15 days back.
On the other hand according to a reliable source, the post mortem of the K Arun was conducted at JNIMS morgue on April 28, five days after his body was recovered at Bamon Kampu Makha Leikai Siphal Lou.
The body which is kept at JNIMS morgue is starting to decompose, the source added.
It may be mentioned that K Arun was found some half a kilometre away from his residence at Bamon Kampu Makha Leikai Siphal Lou, under Irilbung PS in the morning of April 23 and on the same day, his wife Helen and Pradhan N Rabi were arrested in connection with the case as prime suspects.
