Solo bicycle tour

Retired Major General Somnath Jha Viswa of the Indian Army who has been on a solo bicycle rally "A Veteran's Homage Journey to Indian Soldier" reached Imphal today and paid homage to deceased Indian soldiers at Imphal Indian Army War Memorial.
Somnath Jha was warmly welcomed by a team of local cycle club members and members of Sainik School Imphal Alumni Association at Mantripukri area who accompanied him up to Imphal Indian Army War Memorial.
After reaching the War Memorial site, Somnath Jha paid homage to all the sung and unsung heroes who made the supreme sacrifice of defending the honour, integrity and freedom of India.
Speaking to media persons, he said that he retired on September 19 this year after serving the Indian Army for 37 years.
Soon after his retirement on September 19, he started his bicycle journey on September 30 from Ambala, Haryana from where he took his retirement.
Till today, he has covered more than 2,400 Kms.
He also said that he would head for North Bengal after covering all the seven States of the North East.
He also said that he was expecting to complete his bicycle tour before the end of April next year at New Delhi.
