The Zomi Human Rights Foundation has appealed to the United Naga Council (UNC) to give passage to all stranded vehicles on NHs leading to the State and to consider the economic blockade imposed on humanitarian ground.
In an letter to the president of UNC, the ZHRF said that the common people of the State are badly affected by the demonetisation of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 notes as the purchasing power of the common people has dropped.
Also, the people are faced with shortage in supply of cash and essential commodities.
The right to live which is universal to all has been trampled upon and as such there is a high possibility of human casualty, the ZHRF pointed out while urging the UNC allow passage of stranded vehicles in order to avoid catastrophic consequences.
