Senapati, July 09 2026:
The Naga People's Organization (NPO) has urged the Deputy Commissioner of Senapati to arrange regular transportation for commuters travelling between Senapati and Imphal under military protection, citing growing safety concerns amid the prevailing situation.
In a representation submitted to the Deputy Commissioner, the NPO said commuters from Senapati District are facing immense hardship as travelling through Kuki-inhabited areas without adequate security has become highly risky.
It expressed apprehension that innocent civilians could fall victim to untoward incidents at any point along the route.
The organisation requested that regular transport services be arranged under proper military protection, including security escorts, between Senapati and Imphal until normalcy is restored.
Acting on the representation, the Deputy Commissioner, Senapati, has written to the Commissioner (Home), Government of Manipur, recommending that necessary arrangements be made for the regular movement of commuters under security protection.
In the communication, the Deputy Commissioner requested the Home Department to examine the feasibility of providing the required security escorts and transportation support to ensure the safe travel of commuters between Senapati and Imphal.
