Imphal, June 03 2014:
There is no end to the infighting in the State unit of Trinamool Congress with five MLAs of the party today saying that they are not aware of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) general secretary Derek O' Brien, who is also the party spokesperson, appointing MLA Th Shyamkumar as the president of the state unit.
A day after Shyamkumar reportedly received a fax message from Derek O' Brien appointing him the state unit president, five legislators of the party namely Kh Joykishan, Kunjo, Th Bishorjit, K Sarat and O Lukhoi today told media that they have no idea about Shyamkumar being appointed as the president.
The five MLAs insisted that Joykishan is the party president and even former party president Kim Gangte endorses Joykishan's leadership.
They went on to point out that in 2012, just after the state assembly election, the party had urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) in written to recognise Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress as a state party on July 18, 2012.On March 10, 2014 ECI Secretary Varinder Kumar issued a notification on March 10, 2014 recognised the same.
So, if AITC crossed the limit then the relationship between the MPTC and the AITC can go sour, the five MLAs said, while asserting that the farcical development on party leadership crisis in the mediais the creation of AITC to confuse the people.
