Imphal, October 28, 2009:
Construction works of 60 primary schools, 20 upper primary schools, 95 additional classrooms, 225 school common room toilets, 10 school boundary walls, 25 cluster resource centres and 6 block resource centres were completed in Senapati district under Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, according to Th Stephen, DCO/DISE, education department of Senapati district, a PIB statement informed.
He was speaking on the second day of the Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign on flagship programmes of the Central Government at Indoor Stadium, Senapati organised by the PIB, Imphal and its collaborating agencies.
Stephen added that 191 schools were provided water facility and 52 schools were electrified and 249 EGS centres covering 6060 children were under the scheme in the district.
Speaking as a resource person on the occasion, PM Heni, AI said that 38618 children of 473 schools were given benefits of midday meal under midday meal scheme in Senapati district in 2008-09. He said construction of kitchen set which is made through the SDO concerned at the cost of Rs 60,000.He added that fund for purchasing utensils for cooking and serving under SSA is not adequate, according to the PIB statement.
In the evening session of the campaign, Aaron, SDE, BSNL Senapati said one tower exchange of WLL, two mobile BTS exchanges are already installed and two more similar towers are planned to be installed soon in Senapati district.
He noted that BSNL has already provided broadband facilities to 150 subscribers in the district so far.
Among these subscribers, 40 are provided free to the rural areas under Bharat Nirman Scheme, it added.
The PIB statement further stated that, as a part of the PIC, Army authority has organised a free medical camp today wherein around 200 patients were treated.
Theme based cultural programmes were presented by artistes from Song and Drama Division, Imphal.
Thousands of people took part in the campaign, the statement added.
