Legal awareness programme held

A legal awareness programme on "Crime against Women, Child Trafficking, Child Labour and Cyber Crime" jointly organised by Lourembam Maning Meira Paibi Welfare Association and Malem Meira Paibi Apunba Nupi Lup Imphal was held at LYUC ground, Lourembam Maning Leikai, Nambol, Bishnupur district.
The programme was attended by Utlou Zilla Parishad member Dr Th Romabati Devi, Headmistress of Leimapokpam Hindi Kabui Primary School Y Premila Devi, Sanjenbam-Pukhrambam Gram Panchayat Pradhan N Tomba Meitei, MPPC Pangei Assistant Director Th Basantakumar Singh, social worker A Babu Singh, Malem Meira Paibi Apunba Nupi Lup secretary S Shanti Leima, LYUC Lourembam president M Somo Singh, LYUC Lourembam secretary Y Sharatchandra Singh and former Pradhan of Sanjenbam-Pukhrambam Gram Panchayat Kh Ibobi Singh.
Senior advocates and other resource persons who attended the programme stressed on the alarming rise of crimes against women and children in the State.
The resource persons stated that child labour which is punishable under the law should not be encouraged.
Cyber crime, one of the fast growing crimes in the society, can be prevented by listening to the inner voice.
Parents and guardians' role in curbing such crime is crucial.
They should be aware of what their children are upto when exposed to various social networking sites.
