Adventure camp concludes

Chandel, December 16 2019:
A 6 day adventure camp organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra Chandel in collaboration with Manipur Sports Climbing Association and 18 Assam Rifles, Chandel near Chakpi River upper stream, Thangkin village concluded, today.
The adventure camp was flagged off by Ajit Khetri Commandant of 18, Assam Rifles Chandel in the presence of Major Kunal Sharma and Ng Rameson Monsang, District Youth Coordinator Nehru Yuva Kendra Chandel.
31youths from Kakching, Thoubal, Tegnoupal and Chandel Districts participated in the camp.
The camp aimed at encouraging the spirit of adventure and risk-taking amongst the youth and inculcating the spirit of nature appreciation with an emphasis on ecology and conservation of natural resources.
Trekking, mountain rappelling, river crossing and other activities were undertaken with the guidance of the resource person from All Manipur Sports Climbing Association Surchand and the Assam Rifles personnel.
The resource persons also took sessions on tent pitching, camp layout, river crossing, rock climbing and rappelling, preparation for trekking and mountaineering expedition, lecture on the importance of adventure in life and demonstration on jungle survival.
The participants have certain fear at the start of the camp but as the camp was ending many express that they are ready to venture out now.
One of the youth participants BD Niwarhring expressed that it is her first time participating in such camp.
The camp began on December 11 .
