Draft electoral roll published for 60 ACs

As per the instruction of the Election Commission of India (ECI), the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Manipur published the Draft Electoral Roll for 60 Constituencies of the State today.
Along with the publication of the Draft Electoral Roll today, a total of 67,844 deceased, transferred and bogus voters have also been removed from the previous roll.
Speaking to media persons at the CEO conference hall at Lamphel today, CEO Manipur PK Singh said that with the qualifying date of the Draft Electoral Roll set as January 1 of next year, the total number of voters has reached 18, 81, 961 .

Out of this total number of voters, 9,17,041 are males, 9,64,848 are females and 72 are third genders, the CEO said, explaining that the gender ratio is 1052 female fo every 1000 male while the elector population ratio is 53.06 percent.
Pointing out that the number of polling stations in Manipur has been increased from 2861 to 2889, PK Singh conveyed that the polling stations have been increased by an extra 5 number in Imphal West, 11 in Tamenglong, 9 in Churachandpur and one each in Kangpokpi, Ukhrul and Senapati districts.
Reminding that an Elector Verification Programme was conducted from September 1 to November 30 through Voter Helpline Mobile App, Common Service Centres (CSCs), BLOs and Voter Facilitation Centres established in ERO offices, the CEO informed that following the programme, the total number of voters in the State came out as 19,39,244.Around 18,86,200 voters applied for making necessary correction to their details during the programme.
Now, all the photos of the voters from 22 polling stations in the electoral roll are in colour, he said, explaining that these polling stations include 1 in Imphal East, 14 in Imphal West, 3 in Kangpokpi, 2 in Senapati, 1 each in Tamenglong and Churachandpur.
PK Singh further informed that special summary revision of the electoral roll will be conducted by January 15 next year, adding that the voters can make necessary correction to their details during the said revision period.
Those who are 18 years of age as on January 1 next year, can also apply through on-line, he added.
A multi media campaign 'I am ready' was also launched today to encourage the people to take part in the revision.
Various icons of the State like actress Bala Hijam, cricketer RK Rex, transgender Ngangom Eliza, actor Sushant RK, singer Jena Khumanthem, Miss Manipur 2018 Raina Sharma Laimayum, Mrs Asia Pacific 2018 Adaphro Sylvia and transgender Thingnam Adi Meitei are taking part in the campaign, PK Singh conveyed.
The Final Electoral Role will be published on February 7 next year, he added.
