Children Day was observed at various places by different organizations and government today to mark the birth anniversary of first Prime Minister of the country Jawaharlal Nehru.
State family welfare services organized baby health cum best mother competition at the training hall of the regional health and family welfare training centre, Porompat.
In the competition for the baby of category of six month to 11 month, O Great Britain son of O Victoria of Uripok Naorem stood first, Abinash son of Bijeta of Kakwa Naorem Leikai and Taison son of Athokpam Kangchamba secured second and third position.
In the category of 12 to 23 months old baby, Keina daughter of Athokpam Bony of Khurai Chingangbam Leikai, Anuska daughter of Heishnam Balkrishna of Chingmeirong and Samne Victoria daughter DD Thaisii of Lamphel won the first, second and third position respectively.
Jayesh son of Robert Laishram of Uripok Sorbon Thingel, Trithaguni daughter of Chanam Usharani of Kwakeithel Akham Leikai and Trisunta daughter of RK Gopendro of Keishampat were respectively first, second and third position holders of the baby competition in the category 24 to 36 months.
In the best mother competition, H Sobharani, mother of Anuska won the first position while Athokpam Ranjana and Udharani Chanam won second and third positions.
State health and family welfare minister, Ph Parijat graced the function as chief guest.
MLA L Nandakumar presided over the function which president of Indian Academy of Pathiatric, H Ibemhal, director of state family welfare services Sh Ragumani and former director T Bilashini attended as guest of honours.

Parijat talked on various activities taken up by the state social welfare service for improvement of the health services of children and mothers.
In connection with the occasion, Iputhou Film Creations presented shirts to the children lodging at the Children Home Deulahland.
The production group also screened its first production film "Lakhipurki Lakhipriyari".
The Social Upliftment and Rural Education and United Voluntary Youth Council also observed the day with a function at BJP office complex, Imphal.
In the morning session of the observance, a painting competition for the disabled children was also held.
Prizes to the position holders and participants were distributed in the afternoon session.
District social welfare officer, Bishnupur, Laishram Ibomcha, president of the organizing committee, Ksh Joychandra, president of the Differently Able Welfare Organisation, Laishram Bocha and former coordinator of Social Welfare C Bira also attended as chief guest president and guest of honours respectively.
Kastruba Gandhi Institute for Development, Manipur also released its biennial journal under Gandhi Media Literacy for the children in a function held at Manipur Press Club, Imphal called "Nawakhol".
The journal was released by the chief guest of the function, information officer, DIPR, BB Sharma.
