To collect a first hand account of the difficulties being encountered by their colleagues here in Manipur in the aftermath of the July 23 killings, a team of media persons based outside the State have arrived at Imphal today.
The 10 member media team being sponsored by Panose South Asia, Guwahati Office would be filing reports and stories on July 23 killings and other incidents of fake encounters.
The team includes scribes of Tehelka Magazine which exposed the fake encounter of July 23 .
The trip is also aimed at covering incidents taking place in the state in mainstream media.
After interacting with AMWJU members and senior Editors at Manipur Press club, the team visited some widows and family members of the victims of fake encounters.
They also interviewed family members and JACs of Sanjit and Rabina killed on July 23.The JACs gave the media team a memorandum for conveyance to the Prime Minister.

Mother of late Longjam Uttamkumar of Keishamthong Longjam Leirak broke down in front of the media team while recounting how her son was shot dead by police commandos in front of her own eyes on March 29 last year.
She said that her family was still in the dark why her son was killed mercilessly.
She also asked the Government if Uttamkumar was working for any UG group, if so, for which group.
The media team would meet human right activists, intellectuals and people from different walks of life tomorrow.
