Imphal, November 14 2009:
AMSU, MSF and KSA have appealed the authorities concerned to suspend the notification for the Inter-college youth festival, examination of LMAS Law College, and conduct of students' unions election on November 25 in the interest of the ongoing agitation.
A joint statement issued by the three students' bodies conveyed that the MU authority and the college authorities will be held responsible in case their appeal is not heeded.
Alleging the government of not maintaining sincerity in the talk process with the agitating bodies under the Apunba Lup, it also alleged the government of projecting the democratic agitation as 'undemocratic.' It stated that the ongoing agitation against the Khwairamband incident is based on right to life.
The statement also urged all parents and guardians not to pay fees for the period in which classes were not taken normally.
The students' bodies also expressed gratitude to the school van/bus owners for taking a stand not to resume service until the deadlock is cracked.
