Jiri students draw Edn Minister's attention

Complaining over lack of necessary infrastructures and teaching staffs, students of Jiribam Higher Secondary School today appealed to the Education Minister to look after the poor condition of the school which holds the future of a large number of students of Jiribam Sub Division.
Addressing a press meet, General Secretary of the Students Union of the school, YM Kabir said that around 1000 students from all over Jiribam are pursuing their post matric education in the school.
Although many students are opting for commerce stream, the school has not a single teacher of Commerce at present.
There were two commerce teachers in the school namely W Rebica and Y Ajit.
But both of them have not come to the school since long.
Drawing attention of the Minister, the student leader appealed for sending at least one commerce teacher in addition to the two truant teachers so that the students can have some classes at least .
before the academic session expires.

Informing further that English teacher Somorendra Mukherjee, Engineering and Drawing teachers Ch Somita and A Angamba have also been absent from school for the last many years, the student leader demanded transfer of such teachers and send some dutiful and responsible teachers in their place.
The student leader also warned of launching various forms of agitation if the government failed to take action against the irresponsible teachers and send the required teachers by August 11. The press meet was also attended by Presidents of Jiribam Committee of AMSU, DESAM, MSF and KSA.
They also urged the Education Minister to pay a surprise visit to Jiribam to assess the situation himself.
