Imphal, August 06, 2012:
Apart from assuring school and college teachers that their due pension amount and materials would be delivered to them one month prior to their retirement, Education Minister Dr M Okendro said officials who unnecessarily delayed the pensions amounts and materials of teachers would be penalised.
The Education Minister was speaking today during the 66th DM College of Science Foundation Day cum gold medal distribution ceremony, 2012 at the Central Hall of the College.
Further stating that construction of a Guest House for retired teachers at Bengali High School premises is in a pipeline, M Okendro said the Guest House would not only provide breather to pensioners, but it would also check the activities of encroachers near the campus.
Against the backdrop of many halls being constructed within DMC campus, Education Minister urged contractors to stop constructing such halls while adding that quality maintenance in the construction of fencing along the campus boundary would be probed.
Noting the absence of regular principals in Colleges of the State, Oken said problems of the same would be tackled while also adding stating that all colleges of the State would be put on par with DMC.
Okendro further noted that the number of students going outside for further studies has declined with the introduction of various courses of study under MU which at the same time contributed much to the improving economy of the State.
He added that the matter of encroachment of DMC campus would be discussed in a Cabinet meeting.
Altogether, 23 students were presented gold medal and cash award for their outstanding performances in BSc/MSc examinations.
The occasion was also attended by former Principal of DMC Sc, Dr DS Sharma; president of DMC Sc Alumni Association, RK Jatrasana; president of DMC Alumni Forum, Dr S Chauba and present principal of DMC Sc, Dr P Ranabir as the guests of honour and president respectively.
