Cabinet approves extension of SoO

A meeting of the state Cabinet today has given approval to extension of the tripartite agreement, Suspension of Operation (SoO) involving Kuki UG groups, Government of India and Manipur Government by another 3 months.
The Cabinet meeting also gave its green signal to extension of ceasefire with KCP Lallumba group.
Among other agendas discussed in the meeting today, the Cabinet further approved an action plan to supplement irrigation in the state through distribution of 400 nos.of pump sets to farmers societies in the rainfall deficit areas.
According to a statement issued in connection with the Cabinet meeting, Suman Singh, Secretary to Chief Minister, informed that the Cabinet it also approved an action plan to support Rabi Crop in regions where sowing has suffered by taking up an ambitious plan for supporting cultivation of Rabi Maize, Pea, Mustard, Wheat, Hybrid paddy in approximately 35,500 acres of area in the state through distribution of high yield variety seeds, fertilizers, PP Chemicals and imparting training to farmers.The total estimated expenditure on approved plan will be Rs.11.06 crore and is proposed to be funded under RKVY.
Observing that there has been some improvement in rainfall during the last 10 days but sowing has suffered in approximately 30% of the cultivable area, the statement maintained that the Cabinet has also directed the Agriculture Department to closely monitor the rainfall and agriculture conditions in the state.
