Surprise inspection at RIMS Dental College

A day after Hueiyen Lanpao carried a news report in connection with Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) seeking prosecution sanction against some officials in Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for financial embezzlement in procuring dental chairs, a team of officials from Dental Council of India conducted a surprise inspection at Dental College, RIMS here today.
The team comprising Principal Dr Karunakar P, MDS, FIES, who is also a member of Dental Council of India and Prof Nikhil Srivastava, another member of Dental Council of India, MDS, FICD of Subharti Dental College & Hospital under Swami Vivekananda Subharti University, conducted the day-long inspection to satisfy themselves on all aspects of the Dental College.
Soon after arrival at Tulihal Airport, Imphal, they went straight to the Dental College, RIMS and inspected each department.
They also examined all records, infrastructure and asked many probing questions of the doctors and other staff during the inspection.
It may be recalled that the first and the second batch of students are studying now in this college and the third batch students will begin their classes shortly.
Meanwhile, issuing a statement in connection with the surprise inspection, Media Advisor, RIMS observed that if there were any shortcomings, there is enough time to make up before the commencement of the classes of the third batch students.
The existing college is fully equipped and has infrastructures as prescribed by DCI, the statement added.
