JAC to launch stir over Bashanta's death

Fuming over the alleged failure on the part of the Chief Minister and the local MLA to deliver justice for the death of Seram Bashanta, the JAC against the brutal killing of Seram Bashanta has decided to launch different modes of agitation from January 15 onwards.
Addressing a press meet held today at Manipur Press Club today, Phairenbam Manglem, convenor of the JAC claimed that Seram Bashanta (34) s/o Momon of Haogrampat Moirangkhunbou, who eked out a living by selling ice cream lost his life when he was hit by a speeding vehicle on May 2 of 2017 .
He said that the deceased's family members and locals had lodged a report with the police in connection with the killing.
He reiterated that locals had also launched road block agitation on May 3 demanding justice for the victim' family at the earliest.
He said that the agitation was called off after the local MLA requested the locals to do so.
On the day itself, the deceased's family members along with the JAC members held a talk with the Chief Minister wherein the CM gave an assurance that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring justice to the deceased's family, he reminded.
As the assurance has not been fulfilled till date, the JAC and the locals have been compelled to launch different forms of agitation from January 15, the JAC convenor said.
