The State Government has insisted upon the Northern Frontier Railway to fulfil its target of extending railway network of the country up to Imphal by 2016 .
This was stated by the State delegates who participated in the North East Council plenary session held at New Delhi today.
The Governor, the Chief Secretary and officials of Planning Department represented the State at the session which was attended by Governors, Chief Ministers and high ranking officials of the North Eastern States.
However, Chief Minister O Ibobi could not attend the session on account of the State Assembly session which commenced today.
The State delegates also sought acceleration of the Tulihal Airport upgradation project in line with the NEC's focus on transport infrastructure development in the North East region within the 12th Plan period.
They also urged the NEC to initiate the inter-State power transmission project which would be implemented with funding from the World Bank.
