Addressing media persons at its office here in Imphal today, Hijam Ranjit, President of TDC said that prohibition of vehicles' entry in Khwairamband Keithel with imposition of new traffic norms has caused serious problems to the people.

He observed that the present traffic system imposed within Imphal Bazaar by the Traffic Police is barring plying of any kind of public vehicles from Keishampat Moreh Bazaar, Paona Bazaar road, MG Avenue Road, Thangal Bazaar Road upto Khuyathong Traffic Point.
With imposition of new traffic rule, the problem of traffic congestions have been increased along both the lanes from Governor Road Bungalow, Gandhi Avenue till Khuyathong Traffic Point which is against the public interest as the said roads are very much necessary during emergency and other essential duties.
He further pointed out that some private agencies have also been deployed for maintaining parking on both the lanes of NH 2 from Gandhi Avenue to Khuyathong traffic point, thereby adding to the traffic congestion around Keishampat Traffic Point.
Suggesting measures to curb the problem of traffic congestion problem, he said that no double parking and permanent system should be allowed in Keishampat Moreh Bazaar till KJhuyathong Traffic Point, Thangal Bazaar Road and MG Avenue Road and they should be treated as one way.
He also requested the Chief Minister to deploy a Police Officer who is not below the rank of an Additional SP to supervise the traffic system of Imphal area in order to effectuate the traffic system.
