The seven misled youths who escaped from the 42 AR post at Chandel district after they were lured with promises of job recruitment to take part in 'surrender drama', have been reportedly hunted by Army personnel yet again.
Addressing a press conference in this connection at Manipur Press Club here today, Mandir Laishram, Secretary of People Organisation for Civil Integrity and Liberties (POCIL) stated that Army personnel of Naga Regiment have been desperately looking for the seven youths who escaped from the 42 AR post.
The Army personnel numbering around 20 of them, who came to Heirok in a 407 Tata and two Gypsies led by one VK Madan, Deputy Commandant searched for the seven youths and enquired about the whereabouts of S Gambhirsingh, a surrendered cadre of PREPAK, who is involved in luring the youths with job recruitments.
Mandir further informed that the Army personnel first went to the house of Moirangthem Oken, s/o M Kunjamohon, who was one among the 7 youths and asked whether he knew of the whereabouts of Gambhirsingh.
On being informed that Oken does not know, the Army personnel then went to the house of Thokchom Milan who refused to meet the Army personnel.
The Army personnel stopped their investigation process only after the infuriated local residents intervened.
The Army personnel reportedly told the villagers that higher officials of the Army would be further coming to Heirok for investigation, Mandir went on to say that the Army personnel never told the SPOs, police, Meira paibis and local clubs about their intention.
