Motivation camp at Thinungei

Ahead of the planned head count of migratory birds at 50 different places in and around Loktak lake on January 19, a two-day motivation camp was kick-started today at Thinungei in Bishnupur district.
The motivation camp is being organised by Wildlife Wing, Department of Forest in collaboration with Pole Star Guardian Association, Thinungei and Centre for Conservation of Nature and Conservation of Science.
The camp is being participate by 50 delegates including police officers of Bishnupur district.
The inaugural session of the camp was graced by Bishnupur SP Th Radheshyam, Deputy Conservator of Forest (Park and Sanctuary) L Joykumar, IUCN's Bird Specialists Group member Dr Kh Shamungou and Thinungei Gram Panchayat Pradhan Joychandra as presidium members.
The camp is being organised specifically for the head count of migratory birds found at Loktak lake.

SP Radheshyam stated that conservation of wildlife requires both law as well awareness and love for wild animals.
If the number of migratory birds visiting Loktak lake during winter seasons falls, then it is an indication of the lake's degraded condition, said other speakers who spoke at the motivation camp.
