Imphal, January 12 2013 :
Expressing deep concern over the misleading of 7 innocent youths of Heirok by an anti social agency at the pretext of jobs recruitment which turned out to be a hoax one, Women Action for Development (WAD) termed such false promises and misguiding one's life with such intentions are an act of human trafficking.
This is crime against humanity.
So far, many UGs have surrendered and many home coming ceremonies were observed to welcome the surrendered cadres with the intention of bringing them back to normalcy, said a statement issued by secretary of WAD, Sobita Mangsatabam.
Against the backdrop of many surrendered cadres found involved in crimes like Langol killing (Memchoubi), recent non-Manipuri killing (Shangkarlal) and various others, WAD appealed the state and Central government to take immediate necessary measures to investigate the government's surrender policy, make public the total strength of surrender cadres and their placement as well as its monitoring process.
WAD further appealed the State and Central Govt to constitute an independent commission to check and monitor the whole process.
It is also high time to educate the public and spread awareness to the parents and guardians about the issues and protect the young and brilliant youth of our society from such dangerous evils.
WAD also appealed the state and Union Government to take immediate action to punish the culprits involved in Heirok incident.
