Imphal, January 12 2013 :
Acknowledging his selfless service as a police personnel, All Manipur Anti Drug Association (AMADA) would be conferring 'The Marvel-Athouba' Award 2013 to OC K Ranjit on the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26 next.
AMADA has been conferring 'The Marvel'-'Athouba' award to individuals who have been doing exceptional works in the field of Drug, HIV & AIDS, since 2007 .
It may be mentioned that OC of Narcotic Cell, Imphal West District Police, K Ranjit was transferred as Inspector of CAR and replaced by Th Shanti.
The transfer order signed by Addl SP of Imphal West District Police, N Herojit, came soon after a team of the Narcotics Cell led by OC K Ranjit seized a huge consignment of Pseudoephedrine Restifed tablets worth Rs 1.4 crores from Imphal Airport yesterday at around 4 pm.
AMADA, in a press statement said that instead of awarding OC K Ranjit for the excellent duties he has performed, the State government got him transferred, which is very unfortunate.
This has clearly shown that high officials of the State Government are involved in smuggling in illegal drugs into the State.
However, AMADA has decided to hand over 'The Marvel-Athouba' award 2013 to OC K Ranjit on the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26 next in recognition of his duties as a police personnel in trying to root out the menace of drug abuse in the State.
The statement further demanded to make known the owner of the Rs 1.4 crores worth Pseudoephedrine Restifed tablets which were seized by the Narcotics Cell yesterday from Imphal Airport and also to re-consider the transfer order and to award him for his duties.
