The 38th general conference of the Maram Students' Union (MKS) was opened today at Lairouching Lamshipou village playground today.
The four-day long conference is being hosted by the Lairouching Students' and Youth Progressive unit.
The inaugural function was attended by a large number of students, village chiefs, representatives of village authorities and civil society organisations.
The opening function of conference being held under the theme 'The Road Ahead' was graced by RD & PR Minister Francis Ngajokpa .
After hoisting the MKS flag by Francis Ngajokpa, a monument built for the 38th general conference was unveiled by former president of Maram Union K Raison to mark formal opening of the event.
This was followed by release of MKS diary, memento, pictures of Lungnila Elizabeth, and expired members of MKS and a musical album by dignitaries.
Giving key-note address at the opening function, MKS president Pungdi Celestine said that MKS has been working to guide students and youngsters on the right path for the last 37 years.

The MKS has also been shouldering a huge responsibility to preserve, promote and expose Maram culture and tradition to the outside world.
Apart from its consistent effort to maintain peace and harmony in the area, MKS has been contributing its mite in the battle against global warming by way of planting trees within educational institutions and road sides.
Senapati DC PK Jha said that the district administration have taken up a number of measures for welfare of students in addition to looking after health care requirements.
Arrangements are being for a free coaching session of class X students.
Already 200 students have been registered for the coaching session.
Francis Ngajokpa stated that the Government took up Luikhong Maram Project under tribal primitive sub-plan since 1980.Under this project, an amount of Rs 18 lakhs is spent annually towards education of children.
The amount would be increased to Rs one crore by the 12th Finance Commission and the Government has already given it consent.
The 38th general conference of the MKS can be seen as a fillip to youths of not only Maram community but also all communities of the State to work harder.
He advised all students to stay away from drugs and work diligently so that they can compete in the international level.
The inaugural session also featured talk programme on different topics by resource persons as well as cultural and musical programmes.
