Republic Day celebrated

Ukhrul, January 27 2016:
Ukhrul celebrated the Nation's 67th Republic Day without any
disturbance admist the 48 hours total bandh called by UNC.
The Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul, Modak Hrisheekesh
Arvind unfurled the National Flag at Bakshi ground Hundung,
Ukhrul on the occasion yesterday, our correspondent reports.
The DC, in his speech, highlighted all the major devel-
opmental programmes taken up under the district
administration.
He ensured to maintain peace in the district.
Eight contingents including troupes from Kaziphung
High School and NCC cadet from UHSS participated in
the R-Day ceremonial parade competition in the district.
The winning team were later awarded by the chief guest
of the celebration.
None of the elected UADC ( Ukhrul Autonomous
District Council) members attended the celebration held at
Bakshi ground yesterday.
Other than DLOs and their staff,
public responses was also low due to the bandh.
The UNC bandh, in the meantime, concluded peaceful
in the district.
Ukhrul denizens stayed indoor; shops and
other establishment remained closed and transportation
services were suspended during the 48 hours bandh .
