Imphal, February 26 2016 :
The
Zeliangrong Youth Front
(ZYF) has affirmed to carry on
its ban on ongoing National and
International projects in
Zeliangrong areas in protest
against the alleged State Govt's
failure to relocate and
functionalise Tamenglong dis-
trict Secretariat Complex even
after four years of its inaugura-
tion.
In a statement, joint
secretary of ZYF Dinrei
Thiumai said that the ban will
continue until the State Govt
makes a concrete assurance to
fulfil the demand.
The District Secretariat
Complex was constructed at
the cost of Rs 36.26 crore
and it was inaugurated on
November 3, 2011 by P
Chidambaram, the then Un-
ion Home Minister in the
presence of O Ibobi Singh,
the Chief Minister of Manipur
and several Ministers and
MLAs.
The ZYF had submitted a
memorandum to the Manipur
Chief Minister demanding for
relocation of Deputy Com-
missioner and other District
Level Officers at the already
inaugurated District Secre-
tariat Complex.
As the State
gave no positive response, the
ZYF shut down all Govt of-
fices and establishments in
Tamenglong district from Feb
17 to 23 as its first step of
democratic agitation.
